Practice for the written heavy vehicle road rules test that Queensland applicants for class LR, MR, HR, HC or MC take at a transport and motoring customer service centre (10 multiple-choice questions, at least 8 correct), based on Your Keys to Driving in Queensland, the Queensland road rules and Heavy Vehicle National Law guidance: licence classes and upgrades, speed and following distances, long vehicles, loads, warning triangles, fatigue and work diaries, and coupling. The real test draws 10 questions; this bank has 144. TMR publishes no time limit, so the 15-minute timer here is an ExamRoo practice setting, not an official format.
5 Most Common Heavy Vehicle Road Rules Test Sample Questions & Answers
Preview 5 practice questions with answers and explanations that name their source.
In Queensland, which vehicle can be driven on a class LR licence?
Class LR covers buses and trucks up to 8 tonnes GVM, including prime movers, towing a trailer of up to 9 tonnes GVM. The 4.5 tonne figure is only the limit for a car licence. A heavier trailer needs a higher class.
In Queensland, what is the largest rigid truck that a class MR licence lets you drive?
Class MR is the first class above 8 tonnes GVM, but the truck can have no more than two axles. Three or more axles needs class HR. A truck of 8 tonnes or less is already covered by class LR.
In Queensland, which of these vehicles requires at least a class HR licence?
Class HR is needed for a bus or truck of more than 8 tonnes GVM with more than two axles. The two-axle vehicles listed are all within class MR or lower.
In Queensland, what is the lowest licence class that allows you to drive a truck towing a trailer of more than 9 tonnes GVM?
Class HR allows a trailer of only up to 9 tonnes GVM. Towing a heavier trailer, such as a semi-trailer, needs class HC. Class MC is only needed for B-doubles and road trains.
In Queensland, which licence class is required to drive a B-double?
Class MC (multi-combination) is the class that authorises B-doubles and road trains. Class HC stops at a single semi-trailer or a truck with a heavy trailer.
