5 Most Common Certificate III in Individual Support Sample Questions & Answers

Preview 5 practice questions with answers and explanations that name their source.

Sample Question 1 of 5Individualised plan

Dana starts her first shift with a new client and needs to confirm which support services she is to provide. What should she refer to?

AThe client's own individualised plan
BA colleague's memory of the previous visit
CThe family's preferred daily routine
DThe organisation's general policy manual
Answer & Source:

Performance criterion 1.1 says the worker refers to the individualised plan to confirm the support services to be provided with the person. Family routines and policies inform the work, but the plan is the document that states what has been agreed for this person.

Sample Question 2 of 5Individualised plan

In CHCCCS031, what does the term "individualised plan" refer to?

AThe plan developed for the person receiving the service
BA worker's personal list of tasks for each shift
CThe organisation's rostering plan for all staff
DA plan the family writes to direct the worker
Answer & Source:

The unit's Application section defines the individualised plan as the support or service provision plan developed for the person accessing the service, and notes that organisations may call it by different names. It is about the person, not the roster or the worker's own task list.

Sample Question 3 of 5Preferences and participation

A support worker is unsure what sensory and cultural needs a new client has. Which action does the unit expect?

ADecide from the worker's own cultural background
BConsult the person and their family or carer
CWait for the client to make a complaint
DUse the needs of the previous client as a guide
Answer & Source:

Performance criterion 1.2 requires the worker to consult with the person, their family, carer or others identified by the person to determine specific physical, sensory or cultural needs or preferences. Assuming needs from the worker's own background or another client risks getting them wrong.

Sample Question 4 of 5Preferences and participation

Mr Lim would like to wash his own face and upper body during his shower. What should the worker do?

AComplete the whole shower for him to save time
BAsk his daughter whether he is allowed to
CConfirm his preferences and participation
DTell him the plan does not allow it
Answer & Source:

Performance criterion 1.3 is to discuss and confirm the person's preferences for personal support and their own level of participation in meeting their support needs, in a way that develops and maintains trust. Doing everything for him removes his participation and independence.

Sample Question 5 of 5Preferences and participation

When working out actions and activities with a person, which two things should the worker promote?

AThe worker's convenience and speed of the task
BIndependence and informed decision-making
CThe family's wishes and the supervisor's schedule
DThe organisation's routine and cost savings
Answer & Source:

Performance criterion 1.4 says to work with the person to determine actions and activities that support the individualised plan and promote the person's independence and right to informed decision-making. Convenience, schedules and cost are not the basis.
